Ingredients | |
Wheat flour | 1 cup |
Oil | 3 tsps |
Salt | a pinch |
Elaichi powder/cardamom powder | a pinch |
Water | |
Deseeded dates | 1/2 cup |
Mix flour, salt, cardamom powder in a bowl. Add oil to it and give it a mix.
Add water to form a dough.
The consistency is that of a roti dough. knead the dough for a while, cover it and keep it aside for 10 minutes.
Cut the dough into small parts and roll out a part of the dough into a thin round shape just like roti.
Cut the dough into 2 parts. Take some dates for filling and place it on one of the parts.
Apply a line of water to the sides of the dough with your finger.
Cover the filling and cut the sides to get your desired shape. I made it a rectangle.
Pinch with your fingers or a fork to fold the sides of the wrap.
Do the same for as many pockets as you want to make.
Preheat the oven for 10 minutes.
Brush the pockets with oil and place them in a baking plate lined with baking sheet.
Bake for 10 minutes on each side at 150 degrees. Crispy, healthy and sweet yummy date pockets are ready to serve.
- I have filled pockets with only dates since I wanted to keep them till the weekend (at least 5 days). So if you are going to serve it right away, you can give it any filling of your choice.
